B&W's latest speaker in the CDM
series, the SNT surround-sound loudspeaker, is priced at 1250 DM per pair.

Marantz used this show to unveil
their newest SACD player. The SA-1 is two-channel unit capable of playing SACDs, CDs,
CD-Rs and CD-RWs and is priced at 15,000 DM.

single-ended and balanced analog outputs as well as TosLink and coaxial digital outputs. A
multichannel SACD player has still not yet been released.

Germany's Sehring made a nice visual
statement with their line of "modular" speakers. You can start with a
"passive" two-way monitor (model 602) and add the "active" bass unit
(model 603), which makes the combination into a floorstanding loudspeaker that doesn't
require any amplification. With the new subwoofer (shown left), the system price (fully
active) for the five pieces is 22,000 DM.

Cayin showed an impressively built
five-channel amplifier for home-theater use. The D1205.1 is priced at 2998 DM and has
individual gain settings for each channel, including a subwoofer channel.

Ascendo's System 33 preamplifier has
a built-in DAC and room correction (room correction works for frequencies under 1kHz). For
those who buy this unit, the dealer makes the necessary room-correction adjustments. The
price is 10,000 DM.

Ascendo also makes loudspeakers. The
fully active DASK M speakers are priced at 30,000 DM per pair.
