Linn's new Klimax Kontrol preamp ($9895) is a visual and sonic match for the company's Klimax power amps. Linn will soon offer an expander unit for use with the Klimax Kontrol to add more inputs and outputs for 5.1-channel audio.

Krell's KAV-280p preamp (third from top, $2500-$3000 when available) has been added to the company's KAV line. Below it is the KAV-2250 power amp, while above it are the KAV-280cd CD player and KAV-300iL integrated amp.

JVC's newest super receiver is the THX Ultra2-certified RX-DP20VBK ($2500), which incorporates Texas Instruments' new Aureus 255MHz DSP.

The Atlantic Technology P-2000 7.1-channel preamp/processor has all of the bells and whistles of competing products but comes in at a lower price: $1600. It's shown here in gray and black finishes.

XLO Electric's Unlimited Edition UE5 speaker cable ($3700 per six-foot pair) is said to be the first balanced speaker cable. It includes an alligator clip on the amplifier end for connection to a chassis screw.

New from B&W is the Nautilus 805 Signature speaker ($3500), whose veneer is eye-catching to say the least.

First Impressions Theme Theaters displayed a large array of home-theater seats, including the Cine Lounger (left, starting at $1195) and the child-sized Mini Cine Lounger ($659).
