Driving the new Audio Physic Kronos
loudspeakers were the 15,000-per-pair Strada mono amplifiers, which deliver 200W
into 8 ohms, 400W into 4 ohms, and 800W into 2 ohms.

The Dynavox 3.2 loudspeaker is a horn-loaded
design that uses a 230mm Tractrix horn and a 25cm Zelluose-membrane woofer. The
sensitivity is said to be 96dB, and the price is 11,000 per pair.

EveAnna Manley made the trek over from the US
to show her company's products in Europe. The $7300 Steelhead phono stage has a variable
volume control so that if you are strictly turntable-based you need no additional preamp.

Vroemen showed literally rock-solid
loudspeakers. The smaller model on the left is the 900-per-pair La Bambina, and on
the right is the 2300 La Nobila. The company uses either marble or granite for the
enclosures.

A contradiction in terms? Monitor Audio showed
their special Silver Edition Gold Reference 60 loudspeakers priced at 6000 per pair.

Britain's Pro-Ject, well known for their
turntables, showed some new and interesting products. From left to right are the Head Box
headphone amplifier capable of driving two sets of headphones at once (price to be
announced), Phono Box SE phono stage (180), and the Speed Box, which is an upgrade
for Pro-Ject turntables to control their speed (price to be announced).

Finland's Tetrimaki Crevasse speaker features
a 1-meter ribbon driver and a pair of 10" woofers operating in a dipole
configuration. The price is 6000 per pair.

Tetrimaki also makes a monoblock triode
amplifier they call the SET. It outputs 15W and costs 6000 per pair.

WBE of Germany showed the 7410-per-pair
Sand Witch No.24 loudspeaker, which has numerous 3cm sand-filled cavities that bring the
speaker's total weight to 85kg. The speaker is only available pre-filled, although the
company also has other models that do not need sand loading.

Germany's Sehring showed their new System 700
series of loudspeakers. Shown is the S 701 P speaker priced at 1900 per pair. The
platform on the floor under the speaker is sold separately for 320 per pair. Like
the company's other speakers, the S 701 P is modular, so buyers can upgrade enclosures for
better sound and even add built-in amplifiers to make the speakers active.

The Swiss company Rethm showed their
$3600-per-pair Third loudspeaker,which features a single full-range driver.

Tannoy loves to bring out brand-new
retro-looking designs. The Canterbury 15 loudspeaker has a 15" concentric driver that
comes housed in an elaborate wood cabinet. The price is 18,500 per pair. |
