Silver is certainly popular this year. The
Canton Karat Reference 2 DC has a claimed frequency response that goes down to 18Hz and
costs €7900 per pair.
We learned that Black Forest Audio's Volker
Kuhn's last name translates to "bold" in English, and that he is by displaying
this unusual design. The €4000-per-pair Golden Wings speaker has a single wideband
driver and no crossover. It is also cabinet-less -- there is no back to the speaker, just
open air, so the driver operates as a dipole.
The Denon ADV-700 DVD player/surround-sound
receiver (a deceiver?) features Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital, and DTS decoding; a
built-in tuner; and a 5x35W amplifier. The price is €1199.
JVC showed their super-slim XV-N5 DVD player
that features 24-bit/192kHz DACs and a special zoom function for video playback. The price
is €300.
HGP of Germany showed the new Corda SoNova
loudspeaker that features some of the company's "best technology." The 2.5-way
design features a rear-firing tweeter and costs €5630 per pair.
HGP also showed their serious and big SUB 600,
which features four 12" woofers, a 600W digital amplifier, and bass equalization. The
price is €3600.
Lindemann of Germany showed the B 60
loudspeaker, which features Scan-Speak Revelator drivers and WBT connectors. The B 60 is
€7700 per pair, and there is a larger B 90 for €9200 per pair.
Odeon showed the new €13,000-per-pair No.
26 three-way loudspeaker with a horn-loaded midrange, a compression tweeter, and a
10" woofer.
Octave's new V 40 tube integrated amplifier is
rated at 35Wpc into 4 ohms and costs €2400.
Vacuum State Electronics' PP-2CS is a fully
differential, 25W triode kit mono amplifier. No pricing is available now, but it will be
in the fall of 2002.
Aloia showed a slick new CD player with
electronic display. No price or availability date were available for the CDP 11.01.
Bosendorfer of Germany had numerous new
speakers with only a front-firing tweeter and the other drivers on the side. The M2 is a
two-way design with one woofer mounted on each side at different heights. The price is
€3360 per pair. |
