Doug Schneider and Jeff Fritz were both
impressed with a simple, moderately sized system consisting of the Swiss-made Nuekomm
integrated amplifier and CD player (about €3000 each) and German-made Sehring S 701 P
loudspeakers (€1900 per pair).
The presentation remained composed and
coherent as Bruce Springsteen's The Ghost of Tom Joad CD filled the room with a
supremely rich sound. The demonstrators played the system far louder than we would at
home, but it clearly showed the considerable output capability despite its simplicity. It
sounded good at moderate and low volumes too. And with nearly full-range bass and
crystal-clear highs, the system's sound belied its reasonable price. Lehmann Audio's
Silver Cube was also in service for vinyl duty, but it wasn't being used when the
SoundStage! Network crew visited. |
