New from Meadow Song Labs is the Mont Real
Special Edition ($4500/pair), which uses cone and planar/ribbon drivers. Its top-mounted
auxiliary tweeter, the front plate of which you can discern, made the presentation sound
especially airy.

The Audiostatic DCI Wing A planar speaker
($4400/pair) sounded unbelievably full and weighty in the bass.

Ever-industrious Gilbert Yeung of Blue Circle
used Montreal to introduce his Music Ring series of balanced power-line
conditioners/power-distribution centers. Shown are the MR800 (top, $699) and MR1200
($799). The entire Music Ring product line is available factory direct.

JoLida showed its new JD100 CD player ($900),
which uses a pair of 12AX7 tubes...

...as part of a system with the 200W 3000A
211-based tube monoblock, which along with the 3000B preamp (not pictured) costs $6000.

Bryston's second surround-sound decoder is the
SP1.7 ($4295), which is THX Ultra certified, includes advanced decoding schemes such as
DTS ES and THX Surround EX, and can accommodate up to 7.1-channel configurations.

Distributed by Bryston and incorporating a
150W Bryston amp is the PMC SUBTLE-1 powered subwoofer ($2495). |
