Big Shot Audio made a surprise announcement with its Big
Boom multi-room, multi-use loudspeaker, and once again we have the "world
exclusive" picture. Using a single 6" top-firing driver in an "undisclosed
enclosure," the Big Boom reportedly has a frequency response from 4Hz to 300kHz
+/-.001dB, 132dB in-bathroom sensitivity, and maximum output exceeding 173dB. One very
innovative aspect of its design is that when placed over a heating duct it turns the
entire house into a an "infinite transmission line enclosure," extending bass
"to below 0Hz." The end result is frequencies that are rendered "super
speedy," which according to the company means that "20Hz signals become 40Hz and
so on." Miraculously, a single speaker not only reproduces stereo, but also 10.2
surround sound, and it has been "high-frequency voiced" with the aid of a group
of golden-eared Beagles held in a kennel near Lumsden, Saskatchewan.
The Big Boom comes in flat-black, matte-black, and
dark-black finishes and when put into a room without furniture is said to blend into any
decor perfectly. Using supposed groundbreaking research conducted in the mid-1980s by
expelled undergraduates at the University of Moosimin, Big Shot "found a direct
correlation between optimal product pricing and reviewer exuberance." Hence the Big
Boom will cost $19,995 each until the first reviews appear and then "halved or
more" in price immediately after. |
