CES 2001 - Places and Faces, Series 1

SoundStage! alumni were present at CES 2001. Former "Paradise" columnist Jim Saxon (left) was seen scurrying around the show looking for the ultimate in high-performance gear.

Arcam's chairman John Dawson sat down with Doug Schneider and Marc Mickelson for a few minutes on Sunday morning. Among the topics covered were Arcam's overall philosophy ("Good value is the answer, but it certainly doesn't mean the lowest price.") and the future of digital ("Multichannel is inevitable.").

David Wilson sits next to his new $9995 Watch Dog powered subwoofer.

Has audio equipment gone completely crazy? The SoundStage! team found these mobile generators delivering power to two of the displays!

Theta's demo at the Golden Nugget used seven Wilson WATT/Puppy 6 speakers and a WATCH center-channel speaker -- along with Theta electronics, of course.

Stephen Creamer of Nirvana Audio takes a quick break outside his display room.

Gallo's Gary Pelled proudly holds his company's new brochure, which features a Playboy-like centerfold of the company's Nucleus Micro speaker in life size.

Spectron designer John Ulrick proudly shows his $6995 Premiere amplifier.

Daniel Jacques (right) of Audio Plus Services proudly shows the new JMlab Cobalt series of speakers that his company distributes. Doug Schneider is shown leaning on the model 806 which retail for $1000 per pair, and Daniel is shown with the floorstanding 816, priced at $1750 per pair.

During CES, the Las Vegas Convention Center is one crowded place!

See you at the show!
