CES 2001 - ShowStoppers Series 2

The new CAD-280 SE "V12" amp ($4000) was part of fine-sounding systems in both the Cary and Soliloquy rooms.

Philips showed the first production model of the SACD 1000 multichannel SACD player (price to be announced). It can be used in six-channel or two-channel mode.

Krell's new-look components include (from bottom to top): the KAV-200a/5 multichannel amp ($7500), Home Theater Standard 2 preamp/processor ($6500), DVD-1 DVD player ($7500 estimated price), and KAV-300iL integrated amp ($3250).

Revel's Performa F50 is the top-of-the-line floorstanding speaker in the line. It uses ceramic-composite drivers and will cost an estimated $8000 per pair when available.

Silverline Audio showed two new speakers: the stand-mounted SR11 (far left, $1499 per pair) and floorstanding La Folia (center, $7999 per pair). The La Folia uses high-quality Dynaudio, ScanSpeak and Focal drivers and appears to cost more than it does.

API's Energy line of speakers features a new version of the extremely popular Take 5 home-theater system, which is priced at $899 for the entire set of speakers, including powered subwoofer, in white or black. The stands for the main and surround speakers can be purchased for $60 per pair.
