CES 2001 - Standout Room

Toffco

"Very lively sound with great rhythm and pace" was John Upton's assessment of the Toffco room. Neat Ultimatum MF9 speakers ($16,000 per pair) were passively biamped with four Exposure XVI mono amplifiers ($7250 per pair). An Exposure XXL remote-controlled preamp ($2150), Exposure XIII phono stage ($1450), and Exposure CD player ($2050) rounded out the electronics. A Roksan Xerxes turntable with Roksan tonearm and Dynavector XV-I cartridge ($9000 for the system) provided analog playback, and everything rested on Neuance Isolation Platforms installed on a Mana rack. Doug Blackburn agreed with John's appraisal and added "Very smooth and musical."
