Conrad-Johnson showed three new amplifiers.
Top, the Grand Anniversary Triode is "best described as a buffered SET
monoblock...with prodigious power reserves" -- and delivering perhaps 1000W,
according to Lew Johnson. Look for it in fall 2002 for $18,000 each. Below, the stereo
Premier 140SA ($6495) is a replacement for the Premier Twelve monoblocks and outputs
140Wpc. Not shown is the Premier 350SA ($7495), the first solid-state Premier amplifier
that Conrad-Johnson has produced.

Threshold is back again, this time with the
Stasis 7.0 150Wpc stereo power amplifier ($7000).

For the audiophile who seeks the ultimate in
overkill, the GamuT S 600 M dual-mono stereo amp ($30,000) dwarfed all other amps in the
room and weighs 401 pounds. It outputs 600 watts into 8 ohms and doubles its power down to
2 ohms.

Edge Audio's new Signature One solid-state
preamp ($8950) can run on AC or its built-in batteries. It comes with an optional clear
top plate and a funky all-metal remote control.

High-end audio meets lifestyle system in the
Cyrus Quattro CD player/preamp (top, $1100) and Q-Power stereo amplifier ($660). |
