Niroson created a convincing surround experience with only two speakers with the Niroson Cinema technology. The two speakers were not arranged as a front stereo pair, however, but a single center unit was used (housing left, center, and right satellites) and a duplicate in the rear mounted over the listeners' heads. Although not quite able to place discrete sounds to the sides of the listener, the system, with its proprietary technology, produced an enveloping cinematic experience. The company plans to license its technology to other manufacturers, but the first system will appear under the MartinLogan name.The Niroson Cinema system's projected retail price is $2500, which includes a powered subwoofer, two main speakers, and a control unit/DVD player.
