Dynamica
Undoubtedly the four very expensive
systems on the second floor of the Tuscany, home of T.H.E. Expo, each had admirers. Our
favorite was the Rockport Hyperion speakers ($86,500/pair) vertically biamped with pairs
of Tenor Audio 75 Wi and 75 Wp amplifiers ($19,900 and $18,900 per pair respectively). The
source was an Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 CD player ($6290), and all cables were Jena Labs
Pathfinder. A Machina Dynamica Nimbus isolation stand ($900) supported the CD player,
while four springy Promethean platforms ($500 each) were used under the amps. The sound
had all of the audiophile earmarks, including consummate musicality. We returned to this
room several times to listen. |
